In a world that is constantly changing, every person we know seems to be trying to catch up to the latest fashion or trying to use the newest gadget to keep up with everyone else. The big question in this day in age is do we have to change who we are to be like them? On Kevin Wood's 2006 release, Finding Me, he reminds us of the simple truth in life: we are who we are and we don't have to change our true self for anyone. In his most honest, featured song, "Stand Firm," Kevin tells us not to worry about what others think. It is most important to focus on what we think about ourselves. If we are true to ourselves and we believe in it, others will see that truth and love us for it. Too often we are told we have to act, dress or look a certain way to be accepted. To the people who are truly important to us there is no need to try to impress. In "The Moon Says Something," Kevin reminds us that no matter how hard we try, we will never be perfect. If we focus on just being ourselves, we'll realize that we are loved and admired by the people that mean the most to us, solely because we have committed to being true to ourselves. When we make that commitment it is easier to follow our dreams. In Kevin's driving-across-America mantra "Make It In LA," we learn that our dreams are our true calling in life and no matter how hard they may be to accomplish, we have to make an effort to make them come true. Knowing who we are is the foundation we need in order to move forward on our journey to reach our every dream. While the world around us seems chaotic and spinning out of control, Kevin Wood's incredibly valuable gift to all of us is his simple reminder of staying true to who we are. To stand firm in our own shoes; Find comfort in our own skin. What we do and accomplish, and ultimately how we make an imprint on those close to us in this life is truly up to us. |
